USCongress -Hurricane Katrina Congressional Updates

The Senate and House are convening extraordinary special sessions prior to the Labor Day weekend to approve emergency funding to Gulf Coast states that have been ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. The Senate late Thursday night cleared by unanimous consent a $10.5 billion supplemental spending bill to fund rescue and cleanup activities, and the House plans to follow suit when it convenes at noon today. More relief measures are expected in the coming weeks.
